THE REGION'S MOST PRESTIGIOUS F&B TRADE FAIR WELCOMES THE WORLD



22 July 2010 - The most anticipated and reputable annual trade fair, the 11th Malaysia International Food and Beverage Trade Fair (MIFB) unwraps with greater excitement today at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) Kuala Lumpur until 24 July 2010.
YB Datuk Seri Haji Noh bin Omar, Minister of Agriculture and Agro Based Industry officially marked the opening of MIFB 2010 and the 6th Malaysia International Agro-Bio Business Conference (MIABC) after delivering his keynote address "The New Economic Model – What NEXT Agriculture".

MIFB and its flavours


The reputable Malaysia International Food and Beverage Trade Fair jointly organised by Kumpulan Utusan and Expomal International Sdn Bhd, themed "Serving you a Multi-billion Dollar Global Marketplace", reflects and reinforces the size and magnitude of the food & beverage industry while featuring the entire spectrum of the Malaysian indigenous food and beverage products and services and at the same time facilitates foreign producers to merge into the domestic, regional and world's food marketplace.




This year MIFB 2010 presents you the world's village with unique flavours and the latest F&B trends that is sure to tickle your taste buds. MIFB garnered strong international support presents 11 distinct international pavilions ranging from amazing Asia to authentic European to the mystic Middle East.

Aside from the 600 booths of the latest and most innovative food and beverage products and services from 25 countries, MIFB 2010 has also orchestrated an exciting thematic journey for your discovery. This section offers a sensible structure that gear towards specific needs and easy sourcing for international and local buyers as well as visitors! Building on the strength of Malaysia's resources and increasing demand, the thematic sections during MIFB will feature:
•    The Bazaar featuring herbs, spices and condiments
•    Seas & Straits featuring frozen and chilled food ranging from seafood to poultry and meats
•    Baker's Street featuring bakery, confectionary, coffee and tea the perfect combination
•    Lifestyle Food featuring organic, health and nutritional food



1000 Business Meetings and counting

With an array of spectacular servings from over 400 international and local exhibitors, to date, over 1,000 one-to-one business matching sessions has been pre-arranged with an anticipation of hundreds more to come over the next 2 days.

MIFB 2010 is believed to be better than previous year's participation, since 2007 the exhibitors and trade visitors doubled the numbers; this includes exhibitors, visitors and traders. Topped with fly-in buyers programme, approximately 36% returning buyers and 64% with new investors.
In 2008 and 2009, exhibitors who hailed from all over the world - 25 countries was recorded where 285 exhibitors in total in 2008. As in 2009, the numbers increased to 329 exhibitors from 29 countries, and the event gained in total of 16,823 trade visitors from 55 countries. This envelops continent such as America & Europe, Oceania, Africa, Middle East and Asia.




Trade visitors can be sure to source for the best F&B products and services while participate engaging forums, presentations, product launch and many more during the 3-day trade fair. (please refer to stage programme.)

Culinary connoisseurs


Aside from opening new doors and business ventures for F&B entrepreneurs and business owners, MIFB on its interactive platform, this year will be featuring a variety of international culinary adventure. One of which is the "Creative Taiwan Food Festival" which will feature eight creative cuisines orchestrated by Culinary Team of JW Marriot Kuala Lumpur on 23 July 2010. International chefs from Vietnam, Turkey and Iran will also be present during the 3 days, to demonstrate their authentic dishes and specialties.

On the local side promoting One Malaysia's authentic spices and flavours is the Cooking Revolution 2010 presented by The Cooking House and My Nourishment. Celebrity Chefs such as Chef Ismail, Chef Gopala, Chef Ryan, Chef Gina Tan and Chef Soo Chee will demonstrate a wide range of Malaysian favourites from Seremban, Malacca and Penang. Food Futures

To serve as a highly effective channel for the machinery, packaging and service solution providers in the food & beverage industry, FOOD FUTURES 2010 has been introduced in conjunction with MIFB. This new segment prominently positions companies with the latest technologies, innovations and services that will help enhance food production, logistic and its supply chain, provide efficient and safe food packaging and also effective point of sales and other related areas in this massive industry.

New economic model for Agriculture


On the forefront of knowledge acquisition and inline with the government's l0th Malaysia Plan, the 6th Malaysia's International Agro-Bio Business Conference with the theme "What NEXT Agriculture" is timely held. Congregating industry and technology experts, movers and shakers and visionaries, the one and a half day conference will see over 22 distinguished speakers share their knowledge and exchange expertise. The remarkable conference will feature speakers from Australia, Taiwan, Thailand, France, Nigeria and Malaysia to brief in detail on several interesting topics, amongst are; "Innovation in Products and Process for Food Processing Industry", "New Innovation in Agriculture – Taiwan's Perspective", "Mutton or Chevon?", "Wetland Padi Production Technology for Dry Climate – The Case of Kano State Nigeria" and many more. Held in conjunction with MIFB 2010, the business conference will unveil the renaissance of modern days' agriculture.

MIFB 2010 is jointly organised by Expomal International and Kumpulan Utusan in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture & Agro-Based Industry and is co-organised by Mutiara Sigma. This trade fair is also endorsed by the Ministries of International Trade and Industry, Health, Information, Communication and Culture and Tourism and is the recipient of support from the Malaysian Agriculture Research and Development Institute, Marditech Corporation Sdn Bhd, Small & Medium Enterprise Co-operations Association of Malaysia, Tourism Malaysia, Food & Foodstuff Association Ho Chi Minh and The Malaysian Selangor and Federal Territory Ku Su Shin Choong Hung Restaurant Association. The opening hours for MIFB 2010 is 10.30 am to 6.00 pm on 22 and 23 July which is strictly for trade only and 10-30 am to 5.00 pm on 24 July is opened for both public visitors and traders. Admission prohibited for minors below 16 years. Terms and conditions apply.
