Kuala Lumpur, 25 January 2011 – The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre) hosted some 300 clients, trade partners and members of the media at the recent Client Recognition Evening to show its appreciation of their role in the Centre’s success to date.
Since opening its doors in June 2005, the Centre has been the venue of choice to over 3,857 events with 10.4 million delegates and visitors. This achievement has contributed approximately RM3 billion in economic impact to Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia.
KUALA LUMPUR CONVENTION CENTRE EXPANDS
MELBOURNE, 15 February 2011 – The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre) has finally been given the green light to expand its facilities, giving the centre a 10,000m² boost that is expected to generate a 40 percent increase in revenue when completed by end 2013.
Datuk Peter Brokenshire, General Manager, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre said the centre would now grow its conference business from a 25 percent share of all events to 30 to 40 per cent.

MELBOURNE, 15 February 2011 – The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre) applauds the Malaysian government business tourism initiative, given its large multiplier effect, higher-yield and greater turnover for repeat visitors in terms of contribution to the country’s tourism receipts.
This is in line with the Malaysian government’s endorsement of the business tourism as part of its Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) that aims to transform the nation into a high income economy by 2020, with the allocation of a RM25 million (AUD8.1 million) Subvention Fund in 2011 and 2012, increasing to RM55 million in 2020 (AUD17.9 million).

Kuala Lumpur, 31 January 2011 – The Malaysia Australia Business Council (MABC) rallied the Malaysian and Australian business communities here recently to successfully raise RM126,000 for the Queensland Flood Relief Fundraiser to go towards alleviating the plight of those affected by the worst floods to ever hit the Australian state.
Held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre), who was also the venue sponsor, the event, which was supported by the Malaysia-Australia-New-Zealand Association (MANZA) and the American Chamber of Commerce, saw 260 people in attendance led by H.E Miles Kupa, The Australian High Commissioner. Australian Rules Football Club “The Warriors’ was also in attendance to lend the support.

MALAYSIA FIRST ASIAN HOST FOR INTERNATIONAL AIDS CONFERENCE
Kuala Lumpur, 5 January 2011 – Malaysia’s latest win of the prestigious 7th International AIDS Society (IAS) HIV Conference on Pathogenesis, Treatment and Prevention (IAS 2013) marks the first time the conference will be held in Asia.
Started in 2001, the biennial conference rotates around the world and alternates around developing and developed countries. The IAS aims to examine the latest developments in HIV-related research and to explore how scientific advances can be translated quickly into effective interventions to prevent and treat HIV, particularly in low- and middle-income countries.
